Celebrating twice this year, 105 years of Bucharest University of Economic Studies and 100 years from the unification of Transylvania, Bucovina and Basarabia (today’s Republic of Moldova) with Romania, the organising team of the Bucharest Summer University decided to promote the Romanian cultural heritage combined with the current economic situation in Europe and not only.
This year’s edition will be based on advised opinions coming from professional speakers about the extension of nationalism and fundamentalism in the world, comparisons with past situation, but also forecasts and scenarios. Moreover, the accent will be put on how citizens react to these changes and ways in which they can pass over the big negative effects that affect them directly.
As Romania will hold the presidency of the EU Council next year, when the United Kingdom is supposed to officially exit the European Union, we consider that this summer school will also create the opportunity to the participants to find out more about Romania’s official position and how it will be implemented.
The generic logo of the BSU was changed in order to support nowadays patterns and trends. In a world hit by nationalist movements, the BSU logo comes with a unionist message, showing that different parts can build up an entire functional structure, hard to be damaged.
The visual identity fosters the traditions, the symbols, the harmony between the culture and globalisation, the economy through these two concepts, as the main keywords of the topic “Cultural Heritage: fostering Community Spirit and Sustainable Development”.
